Anchor Meadow closed until further notice

Anchor Meadow Fishery owner Margaret Fisher who has died at the age of 85

Anchor Meadow Fishery is fully closed for fishing and camping until further notice following the passing of Margaret Fisher who had been running the venue since the death of her husband Ken in 2015.

The couple bought the fishery in 1980, initially running it as a club match water in the summer months and a pleasure venue in the winter. Since taking it over they developed it into one of the most productive barbel stretches on the River Avon. Prior to that they worked as market traders selling curtain and dress making fabrics throughout the Midlands.

Margaret, who was 85, was only able to access the fishery on her golf cart for the past 18 months and leaves a son Anton and daughter Julia.
