Fishing venues in Berkshire
Berkshire’s incredibly varied venues offer some of the best river and stillwater fishing in the country.
The River Thames to the north of Berkshire
Located west of London and bordered by Hampshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Wiltshire, most of Berkshire is within a short drive of the River Thames which flows through the north east of the county and is popular with anglers and boaters alike. One of the nice things about the River Thames is that there are plenty of stretches where you don’t have to pay for a day ticket or permit although you must have a valid Environment Agency rod licence.
The Kennet and Avon Canal to the south
Another major feature is the Kennet and Avon Canal which runs across the south of Berkshire, through Hungerford and Newbury before joining the Thames at Reading. Other main centres of population include Lambourn in the west and Maidenhead, Bracknell, Windsor and Slough to the east.
