Exciting updates from The Folly Lakes: Getting ready for a record-breaking summer

The Folly Lakes in Cambridgeshire is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious big-carp venues in the UK. Known for its seclusion and its incredible stock of original fish, including specimens reaching over 50lb, it has long been a destination for those seeking a true angling challenge. The team at The Folly has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the Main Lake is in prime condition as we come into the main coarse fishing season.

New pegs, better access, and big improvements

If you’ve been following the journey of The Folly Lakes, you’ll know that the venue is transitioning into an exclusive block-booking destination. To meet the high standards expected by modern carp anglers, the fishery has undergone a significant facelift this spring.

The most noticeable change is the recreation of some of the swims and pegs. These have been designed not just for comfort, but to provide anglers with the best possible vantage points to target the lake’s famous residents, such as ‘Brushstrokes’ and ‘Moonscale.’

Beyond the swims themselves, a great deal of effort has gone into clearing access paths and tidying the surrounding foliage. The goal has been to maintain the “wild” and secluded feel of the Maxey clay pits while making the trek to your swim (even with a full load of gear) smoother than ever.

As we head into spring, the water is looking crystal clear, the weed beds are being managed to provide the perfect balance of habitat and fishability, and the facilities, including the secure parking and cabin, are ready for guests.

He remains a dedicated student of the sport, as happy sharing technical tips as he is capturing the simple peace of a morning on the bank side.
