Otter Stop - Otter fencing
Otter numbers are increasing year on year and they can now be found in every county in the UK and on virtually every type of water body. With no legal way of trapping, moving or hunting the otter, the only long term solution is to fit properly installed fencing, giving peace of mind to both fishery owners and angling clubs.
Protecting our fisheries and habitats
Founded by Dave Marvell, an angler for over 40 years and himself a fishery owner, Otter Stop was set up to protect fisheries and wildfowl pools from the ever increasing threat of Otter predation, a problem which is wiping out fisheries all over the UK. While Otter Stop mainly aim to keep otters out of fisheries, our fences also keep out foxes, badgers and humans, and so provide a multitude of benefits. Our fencing also stops fish from escaping from flood-prone lakes and reduces the threat of poachers, particularly on unmanned venues. In addition to offering advice and surveys, Otter Stop can provide high tensile steel fencing and all the required accessories which are easy for lake owners to fit themselves. Alternatively, Otter Stop can provide trusted fencing contractors to install it, together with full consultancy services to anyone unsure of the issues.

Working to protect fishing and fisheries

Otter Stop is working together with the Angling Trust, The Predation Action Group – the main body which is lobbying Parliament on behalf of anglers to save fisheries from predators of all kinds – and Natural England to ensure solutions can be found and implemented quickly, before too many more fish are lost and before predation results in the closure of fisheries.
