Pearl Lake

Pearl Lake spans roughly 14 acres and provides 25 well-spaced pegs around its perimeter. Depths across the main body range between 5.5ft and 6.5ft, shallowing out gently along the lush bankside margins. The single most prominent underwater feature is a pronounced gravel bar running diagonally across the lake floor from the eastern shore over to the western side.

Anglers targeting this central gravel ridge may be rewarded by landing the lake’s larger residents, Carp to 20lb. In addition to the gravel bar, dense marginal vegetation, lily pads, and overhanging trees provide idyllic cover where fish actively patrol and feed throughout the warmer months.

Hot pegs and prime locations

While all 25 pegs offer plenty of water to target, Pegs 19, 20, and 21 are widely regarded as the premier hot spots. These pegs sit directly opposite the clearest gravel patches in the middle of the lake. Casting directly onto or along the edges of this hard bottom routinely yields the highest catch rates for carp and tench.

Fish species and stock profile

Pearl Lake is home to a varied head of coarse species, making it an exciting venue for specimen hunters and pleasure anglers alike. Mirror and common carp range from mid-doubles right up to 20lb+. In February 2026 a new stock of hard-fighting carp weighing between 14lb and 18lb were also introduced.

Beyond carp, the water holds quality tench between 2lb and 5lb, stripey perch around the marginal cover, and jack pike reaching up to 10lb. The venue is maintained as a natural, challenging water rather than a high-density, action-packed commercial carp puddle.

Proven tactics and rig setups

Method feeders are an exceptionally effective approach for targeting both carp and tench across the gravel bar. Pair an inline method feeder with a short hooklink (3 to 4 inches). For those that enjoy float fishing, a loaded waggler set up, fishing with 2-3 inches of line on the bottom and a small holding shot allows sensitive lift bites to be detected from the Tench.

Bait recommendations and feeding strategy

The resident fish respond best to a steady, continuous trickle of feed rather than large initial carpet baiting. A balanced groundbait mix blended with small 2mm to 4mm pellets worked into a method feeder creates the perfect attraction trail.

Adding a few casters, red maggots and even hemp into the mix creates a deadly combination to create a feeding frenzy during warmer months.

For hookbaits, 6mm hard pellets, wafters, or small boilies work brilliantly on hair rigs for carp and tench. Luncheon meat, prawns, soft hookable pellets (red) and Maggots and sweetcorn remain top choices for general float fishing.

The park offers a selection of luxury 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom static holiday homes available for self-catering stays. These modern units come equipped with fully fitted kitchens, private outdoor decking or patio areas, central heating, crisp linens, towels, and high-speed Wi-Fi access. Located between 100m and 300m from the water, they allow easy access for morning casts. Vehicles can be used to drop heavy tackle off right near the lakeside prior to parking.

For those seeking additional space and a classic country feel, the venue provides spacious, fully equipped holiday cottages. Featuring 2 or 3 bedrooms, these properties include warm living spaces, full self-catering kitchen facilities, and private outdoor seating areas. They are situated a short walk from the lake margins and provide an ideal base for those who feel the need to keep popping down to the waters edge to cast a line.

Touring caravan and motorhome guests are catered for with 15 fully serviced pitches set within beautiful surroundings. Pitch bookings include full access to the park’s 5-star shower and toilet facilities, secure parking, and clean water points. Located within short walking distance of the pegs, these pitches provide a convenient and affordable option for touring anglers.
