The Fishing at Wold View Country Park

Designed by a team with a lifelong passion for angling, the seven lakes and park at Wold View offer something for anglers of all ages and abilities from gently pleasure fishing for roach and other silver fish to seeking out that new personal best carp in the Bronze Lake specimen water.

Each lake has been landscaped to offer seclusion for everyone fishing with well-spaced pegs and planting to provide cover from the next angler. The complex was given an overhaul in 2021-2022 which included extending some of the smaller lakes, adding new lodges for rent or ownership and laying smoother roads and convenient lakeside car parks.

Gold Lake

Gold Lake at Wold View Country Park in Lincolnshire

Gold Lake at Wold View

The largest of the seven Wold View lakes at three acres in size, Gold Lake has 30 well-spaced pegs which are dotted around the lake at 12 metres intervals.

Well-established and well-stocked, it holds a large head of F1 carp as well as commons and  mirrors to 16lbs, ghost carp to 22lbs, a few catfish which run to 30lbs plus a good head of silver fish. Together with Silver Lake Gold Lake is used for both pleasure and match fishing with the current match record standing at 398lbs which was set in 2023.

About three feet deep around the margins, the sides drop to about four feet before dropping again to seven feet further out.

Most anglers fishing Gold Lake tend to opt for the pole, pellet waggler or feeder although later in the afternoons fishing down the margins with sweetcorn or 6mm or 8mm pellet can be extremely productive when fished over micro feeder pellets.

Bronze Lake

Bronze Lake at Wold View Country Park in Lincolnshire

Bronze Lake

Wold View’s specimen carp water, Bronze Lake is about two and a half acres in size and holds common and mirror carp to just under 30lbs as well as catfish to which have been caught to 31lbs.

A delightfully tranquil lake, Bronze Lake is a traditional angler’s water ideal for those looking to fish a more natural environment off the beaten track and has a total of eight pegs, four down each bank. Anglers can rive  to some of the pegs to unload their tackle but should return their vehicles to the car park before starting to fish.

The lake is fringed along one bank with reed beds and has a patch of lilies in the top corner which is where the catfish tend to hang out.

Although Bronze Lake is a typical carp water, anglers are advised not to put much bait in the water or use pva bags but rather to fish a single 14mm or 18mm Vanilla, Pacific Tuna or Tiger Nut flavoured hair rigged boilie.

Because of the size of the fish in Bronze Lake, anglers must be equipped with a minimum 36 inch landing net, a carp mat or cradle and use a minimum line strength of 12lbs. Braid is not allowed and neither are nuts or particles unless checked by bailiff or manager.

Silver Lake

Silver Lake at Wold View Country Park in Lincolnshire

Silver Lake

The second largest lake at Wold View Country Park at just under three acres in size, Silver Lake has 22 pegs and is easily accessible for wheelchair users with plenty of decent sized platform and grass pegs. It is  perfect for anglers of all ages and abilities.

To become a pleasure only lake from 2025, it features two islands and fished well to pole, waggler, pellet waggler and feeder with pellets, sweetcorn and paste baits all proving popular and productive.

This is again another water which fishes particularly well in the margins later in the day during warm weather.

Island Lake

Island Lake at Wold View Country Park in Lincolnshire

Island Lake

A perfect lake for both beginner and seasoned anglers looking for a more intimate experience, Island Lake has plenty of features to fish to including the island. With a total of 18-pegs, it is easy to fish making it popular with young anglers and families.

The roadside pegs re suitable for wheelchair anglers who can fish off either the platform pegs or on the flat grass bankside.

About an acre-and-a-half in size, it is a fairly shallow lake with depths varying between three and five feet and is stocked predominantly with common, mirror and F1 carp and bream. It has a spattering of other silver fish which can throw up a few surprises.

Island Lake fishes well on both pole or waggler with pellet and sweetcorn being the preferred baits. A whip is also useful when fishing the channels between the island.

Ultimate Lake

Ultimate Lake at Wold View Country Park in Lincolnshire

Ultimate Lake

Classed as a bit of an unknown, Ultimate Lake was restocked over the winter of 2023-2024 with common n mirror carp between 7lbs and 8lbs and F1s to 12oz. A former match lake, it has 20 pegs, a red bed in one corner and car parking nerby.

Because it had been left untouched for a number of years, Ultimate is quite weedy which tends to put some anglers off fishing it, but with a good head of carp, roach, rudd, bream, tench, crucians and skimmer bream it can be an interesting and productive water to fish.

At two-and-a-half acres in size it has a 16 metre wide channel to the large central island with a three to four feet deep marginal shelf which then drops to a maximum of seven feet in the channel before stepping back up to the island.

Once again, pellets and sweetcorn tend to be the favoured baits with both pole and waggler being the most popular techniques or a swimfeeder fished to the island.

Canal Lake

Canal Lake at Wold View Country Park in Lincolnshire

Canal Lake

The two acre Canal Lake has 15 evenly spaced pegs and an island which runs its entire length. Well-established, it is a typical match and pleasure lake stocked with the same mix of species as Ultimate Lake plus a good head of Spanish grassio carp which resemble small grey crucian carp.

Between two and three feet deep around the margins it has a maximum depth which varies between five and six feet.

ideal for pole or rod anglers. Canal Lake sits at the top of the park beyond Silver Lake and has two car parks, one at each end of the lake.

Anglers with a 15 or 16 metre pole can reach the island although most anglers fish a waggler or stick float to the island with pellet, sweetcorn, maggots or casters with maggots and casters being particularly popular in winter.

Ruby Lake

Ruby Lake at Wold View Country Park in Lincolnshire

Ruby Lake

Although visitors to Wold View can fish Ruby Lake, it has been developed more as an ornamental water being overlooked by some of the lodges and is now used mainly as a stock pool.

With car parking nearby, it is easily accessible and holds a good head of F1s and smaller common and mirror carp with the occasional larger fish. Providing the perfect backdrop to the luxury lodges, anglers can fish wherever they want on the grass banks.
