In 'Match Fishing - the Team Approach', Tom Pickering is back on the New Junction Canal near Doncaster where he uses squatt, chopped worm and maggot techniques to illustrate how to win big 300 and 400 peg matches.
In this video and 'Match Winning - The Individual Approach', Tom spends a lot of time explaining his setups, rigs and baits - indeed, in many parts the two videos are very similar. In both he stresses the importance of building up more than one swim at a time - up to three in this case - and of not being afraid to ring the changes to find and catch the fish.
Throughout he shows how to maximise fishing time and make the most of every minute of a match, when to change styles and how to keep the swims in front of you productive throughout the competition - for example, by changing rigs only when there is a flow on the canal because he regards the periods when the flow is slowing or the water is still as prime fish-catching times.
Again he talks the viewer through preparing groundbait and hookbaits, what he uses and why, as well as giving detailed and useful guides to rigs, floats, line and termninal tackle. There's also inside information on how to deal with wind on the water, when you should and should not introduce groundbait and feed and how to hook baits correctly.
With three swims to go at and detailed information on how and when to fish each, this video will help members of any team to make the most of their alloted time and contribute to the points.
