This 60-minute tape is aimed at those searching for an elusive 20lb specimen and lets you accompany the enigmatic Des Taylor as he fishes an Oxfordshire gravel pit in search of big predators.

With hi-tech kit and rigs abounding these days, Des sticks to more traditional tried and tested techniques although baits become a little more exotic with half a mackrel, herring, a River Test grayling, sardines and even lamprey - "the blood drips from it and it casts a long way" he says.

Amongst the tactics shown are live and dead baiting, including a technique which enables anglers to drift a bait across large lakes, how to hook dead baits and how to make them more aerodynamic. Des also outlines why he prefers using a multiplier to fixed spool reel for piking.

In addition, end rigs for both live and dead baits are discussed as are pop-up dead baits and the paternoster rig, setting up the buzzer and even the use of bait boats to get the tackle to the right spot. He also outlines how you can tell whether a gravel pit is likely to be shallow or deep.

Naturally, by the end of the tape Des catches his 20lb pike, a nice one at 20lbs 9oz.
