The 14th title in Dorling Kindersley's highly successful 'Young Enthusiast' series, "The Young Angler" is full of high-quality and interesting photographs which help to explain in words and pictures everything not only young anglers but also those at many levels of interest in the sport would want to know.

Author John Bailey unfolds the basic techniques of both freshwater and shore fishing and gives practical advice on everything from choosing the right rod, reel, tackle and bait to how to unhook and release fish correctly.

Because the photographs have been specially commissioned for the book it's not surprising they are good. In addition to excellent explanatory photographs which talk you through the steps to tying a half blood knot there are also some evocative landscapes and action fish shots.

Although only 48 pages long, it covers a wide range of issues and techniques in short, concise and easily understandable chunks. These cover the history of angling, what is a fish, fish and their food, the tackle needed, fly and lure fishing, float and leger fishing, l;aying and landing a fish amnd much more.

All in all excellent value at £7.99 and not just for youngsters either!
