Browning Youth Masters 2009
This year's 'Browning Youth Masters 2009' is expected to attract over 1,000 young anglers with qualifiers held at 48 fisheries across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
With the existing base of fisheries which staged a qualifier this year, and expansion plans to attract a further 50 fisheries, the strategy is to make the competition accessible for all anglers in all areas of the UK.
All anglers who participated in a qualifier received a prize, and those who reach the 100-peg final at Cudmore Fisheries will again received an additional prize - win or lose. Last year's winner Ryan Barker (pictured right) received tackle to the value of £2,000 and became a Browning Sponsored Angler for one year. Ryan's sponsorship involved a project which was based on encouraging angling participation for non-anglers.
Ryan said: "When I heard about the qualifier at the Angel of the North Fishery I was excited about competing. This is the first time that we have had a qualifier in the north-east and I was not going to miss the opportunity. I attended the latest European product meeting, and felt a valued member of the team."
Angel of the North manager Ann Arlington said: "The whole event was run superbly. We will be supporting the competition again this year and are sure we will have more kids involved."
The Browning Youth Masters is the UK's largest national angling competition for young anglers. The details below list 50 venues across England, Scotland and Wales where youngsters can participate in a qualifier match. Successful anglers will be invited to attend the 100-plus peg final at Kidderminster's Moorlands Farm Fishery on Friday July 31, 2009.
The outright will become a 'Browning Sponsored Angler' for one year and will join Ryan Barker, winner of the 2008 competition. The winner this year will receive £1,500 of Browning angling equipment, with a total competition prize fund in excess of £5,000. All anglers who participate in either a qualifier or final will receive a gift from the company win or lose.
Ticket costs are £12 per qualifier and anglers need to be 16 years or under by the date of the final (ID required for final). Demand for qualifiers this year has already been high and to avoid disappointment we strongly recommend all anglers to book now.
Anglers wanting to book at any of the venues below should call 01525 714012 or e-mail youth@familyfishing.co.uk. All Scottish finalist will receive free transport to the final venue.
