The settlement, which came to more than £80,000, was made on behalf of a Golfplan client following an incident atr the prestigious London Golf Club in September 1996.
A declared provisional ball was 'duck hooked' low to the right, hitting a fellow golfer in the right temple as she waled forwards to the ladies' tee. She was rendered unconcious, taken to hospital and treated for consequential injuries.

Golfplan research shows that over a 12 months period, an estimated 111,025 golfers suffered injuries on the golf course requiring hospitalisation. In 1999, a total of 9,291 golfers were injured with 3,530 head injuries caused by the golf club or ball. A total of 677 people suffered fractures bones leaving them wunable to play golf for many months. These are statistics which all golfers should be aware of.
Can you afford to play golf without Golfplan insurance?
You may think that you are automatically covered by your household insurance for all your equipment and public liability needs. However, many policies exclude public liability cover where sport is involved and offer only restricted equipment cover. It is extremely unlikely that such policies will give you the extensive worldwide specialist protection provided by Golfplan. Some clubs offer 'golf insurance' for an extra fee on membership or green fees, some even make it mandatory. 2: Personal liability - up to £5 million

New for Old means you are insuring for current replacement of your declared/listed golf equipment up to the total insured.
Indemnity means you are insuring against loss of depreciating golf equipment, ie. second hand market values will apply in the event of a claim.
